Family and Local History Librarian
Diane Stepro, MFA, MLSDiane Stepro, MFA, MLS, is the family and local history librarian for Jeffersonville Township Public Library in Jeffersonville, Indiana. An important part of her work at the library is delving into the interconnected genealogies of families and groups living along the banks of rivers in the midwestern United States. As part of her library work, Diane provides genealogy and local history reference, teaches genealogical topics, and researches and delivers presentations on regional history and genealogy. Diane has led several local genealogy research projects to reconstruct lost records, including lists of inmates in the Jeffersonville orphanage, burials in the Indiana State Prison South Cemetery, and Revolutionary veteran burials in Clark County, Indiana. Diane has been a featured speaker for the Indiana Genealogical Society's First Tuesday Live series of online lectures in 2022 and 2024. In addition, Diane has spearheaded several genealogical research and programming collaborations among regional libraries. She serves as the Indiana Genealogical Society’s Clark County Genealogist, and serves on the board of the Falls of the Ohio Genealogical Society.
